Noah Kevin Jensen

I know it has been over a year since I blogged. To be honest, I have been keeping separate journals and haven't had time to blog. But I thought I would copy over the entry I did in my pregnancy journal about Noah's arrival.

Since I never went into labor with Ava I wasn’t quite sure what to expect or how I would know I was in labor. I thought I was having contractions a few weeks before here and there, but when I went to the doctor and she said that basically I was making no progress in the labor department, I thought I was wrong. On Friday evening, we headed up the canyon for a ward activity. On the way up, I felt like I was having some contractions and they were slightly uncomfortable. I didn’t think much of it though because that Tuesday before, the doctor said I was not close and with Ava I was late so I jus t figured I would have to be induced again. Friday night, I still felt the pains, but again I wasn’t sure if I was actually in labor. We had plans to go to Seven Peaks, but also needed to do some things to get ready for the baby. Before leaving that morning, I decided to pack a few things for the hospital. WE also planned on going to Babies R Us and setting up the nursery as much as we could with no furniture. We were waiting for the furniture to come before we bought everything we needed so we had somewhere to put it. A week before Mr. Noah was due we figured we couldn’t wait any longer and needed to get ready. We left for the day to go to Seven Peaks waterpark and Babies R Us. I called my mom and Brenda on the way down to ask about labor and how to know if I was in labor. We timed the contractions on the way down and they were about 8 minutes apart. We hurried through Babies R Us and bought everything we thought we needed. Since they were about 5 minutes apart, we called our friends JP And Amber to let them know we couldn’t go to Seven Peaks. We headed home and kept timing them. Some were less than 5 minutes apart. I still wanted to hang the curtains and such, but Steve said we better get right to the hospital. So Brenda came and got Ava and off we went to the hospital. We arrived at 12:45 pm. When they checked me in I was at a 4. I felt some pretty good contractions before I got my epidural. I quickly got to a 7 and then a 9. The doctor broke my water eventually. I had to push for about 25 minutes. When Noah was born, he was a little blue and I teared up because I was scared. I guess the cord was wrapped around his neck a little bit. They had to give him a little oxygen, but the nurse and doctor kept telling me he was perfect. I held him for a while and he just laid there on me. WE couldn’t tell who he looked like, but he had lots of dark dark hair!! My recovery was much better this time because I took some pain medicine and my nurses were better. Also, they only brought Noah to me at night when he was crying. He only ate about every 4 hours or more from the time he was born so I was able to get very good rest the time I was in the hospital. I also stayed two nights since Steve had Ava all by himself. The stay was very relaxing and I had a chance to spend time with my new baby. He was so cuddly and I would just sit and hold him. Ava loved coming to the hospital and holding baby Noah. She would wake up in the morning and ask about baby Noah. Steve was great through all of it and kept the house in order, set up stuff for the baby, and took care of Ava! I was glad that it was just the four of us the first few days.

He arrived at 5:33 pm. 7 pounds 6 ounces and 18.5 inches long. And we were all in love with him!

Congrats again on Noah - I had almost given up on your blog too. LOL. Hearing about new babies always makes me cry (good cry). I'm glad he was okay! I can't believe you were trying to hang curtains with contractions like that. Actually, I can, but you're awesome for trying to get everything set up as he was on the way! Hope you guys are doing well.
