2 Mile Swim Race

(Post by Marissa) So I have trained for a 10K, 10 miler, and half-marathon; yet I have not raced in any of them. My neighbor forgot to tell me the date of the 10 miler so I was still training after it was over. I was fervently studying for the 3rd section of the CPA exam during the 10K and there were no hotels for the half-marathon, and the person who was going to do it with me decided not to (hi Kenz!).

So why would I actually do a 2 mile swim that I did not even really train for? I saw the sign advertising a 2 mile swim on November 3 at Texas Tech in October, and I put it in my planner, but that is about it. Yes, Steve and I go and swim laps at the pool, but never in a training manner. We simply swim for 30 to 45 minutes. Anyways, to make a long story short, I went and actually did the swim. I completed it in 1 hour 5 minutes. So now I am going to do some big running races possibly without training! I'll let you know when I do the half marathon because I will do it in 2008. One of these days I plan to do a marathon. As soon as Steve can buy me a sweet road bike, then I'll get into triathalons. I actually enjoy and am the best at swimming, but not too many 5K swims exist! I don't have any pictures because Steve was at the library while I was doing it.

Way to go Miss!! I wish that I could swim like you. Oh well, maybe we can train together for a 1/2 marathon. It's always good having an exercise buddy.

Whoa! I'm impressed. You have always been so driven and determined. That probably took a lot of guts. (especially for not really training!) I wish I could have been there to cheer you on.
