Books

(post by Marissa) Okay, so I will admit it, I love a good New York high fashion, crazy lifestyle book or one about shopping. However, recently I have found myself being drawn to a lot of really "good" books. I usally keep a balance between my "fun" books and books to make me a better, smarter, more educated, etc person. Right now, both of the books I am reading are recommendations from Steve. Rich Dad, Poor Dad and University of Success. I am loving both of them. Steve has probably told you about University of Success at some point in his coversations with you because he loves it. It was a life changer for him. My life changer was, "Leadership and Self Deception." Steve has been bugging me to read University of Success for 2 years..yeah I know I probably should have read it sooner :).

Next on my list is Emotional Intelligence (read it once in 7th grade due to bribery from my dad, which I will also do for my children), but he recently sent it to me so I'm going to read it again.

Then "Fire of the Covenant." Another recommended read from Steve. It talks a lot about my ancestors who crossed the plains, so I probably should read it.

Then the new one by Sophie Kinsella (author of Shopoholic Series), which is a recommend from my oh so chic sister, Alisha (As a sidenote about Alisha, she started wearing this color of nailpolish and then the next issue of Vogue had an article about it! However, she is going to be an accounting major like me and I am so excited to discuss numbers with her). I need to throw a fun one in there somewhere right?

Well, happy reading everyone! Don't worry Steve is reading "What to Expect When Expecting" for us (no I'm not pregnant).

I just finished reading Stephenie Meyer's new book, The Host. Not educational but interesting. I loved What To Expect When You're Expecting! Another excellent baby prep book in called A Child Is Born. It has lots of pics, some are pretty graphic, but its really good. It was cool because you can follow your pregnancy along with that book. There is also another really great one but I can't remember the name of it. McKenzie has it.

The next book I am going to read is Leadership and Self-Deception. My aunt says this was a life changer for her, too.

Ditto - Leadership and Self-Deception was soooo good. I recently read "East of Eden" and loved it. It's a novel, but I found a lot of personal application.
