Am I Crazy or Is Society?

(post by Marissa) So recently Steve and I have been discussing politics, society, and the economy quite a bit. This morning I was reading about how the economy is struggling and the fed cut the rate by .75%. Then it started. Steve and I's venting session about how dumb people can be. I don't understand how anyone could want a tax raise. I mean I am not in a high tax bracket and I dont want a raise at all. So, I don't understand why the poor (who the democrats say they are trying to help) would want to raise taxes..are they crazy or do they have a money tree? Another thing I don't understand is SS tax. I am going to quit calling it SS tax and start calling it regular income tax, because SS tax would indicate I am going to get it back someday. What kind of investment is one where you put in 7.5% from 18 to forever and then you get back a whopping 1200 bucks a month. I think that is some serious negative growth. Oh and on top of that, SS benefits are taxed again. Last time I checked I paid tax on the income when I earned it..now I need to pay again..why it's not like my investment increased. I should be allowed to deduct a loss. If everyone just put that 7.5% in a tax-free growth investment they would be a whole lot better off. Oh, but America has the discipline of an ant so we can't save. So, just have a forced savings plan. Oh, but what about the ppl don't work, well they would prob figure something out if they had to, but we don't make people figure anything out or reap the consequences of their decisions..hence all of the problems. I promise if there were real punishments for things people did, people would stop.

Final issue. Which is more beneficial to life. Greek Mythology or a class on money, taxes, budgeting? Well according to society, Greek Mythology because I had to take a greek class but not a money class. How do we let college graduates get a degree and then not even know what a 1040 is or how to balance their checkbook. I think we should get rid of 1 fluff class and require a money class as a general or even require it in high school since not everyone goes to college. No, that would be too useful. Why would we do that. The gov't would probably lose power if everyone had a brain.

Okay, I am off my soap box. They say when you are really frustrated you should write it all down and then throw it away. I took the first step, but not the second. :)
