(Post by Marissa) Do you need a will, but find that setting one up can cost hundreds of dollars? Then, I recommend a simple holographic will until you set up a formal will. A holographic will is one in which you write it in your own handwriting. Steve and I each have a will and it is very simple. It is especially important to have a will if you have children. It simply states that I am of a sound mind and declare it as my last will and testament. It states who all of the assets go to. Parents, state who your children go to (make sure both spouses say the same person/people).
Suze Orman sells a book entitled, Will And Trust Kit. It has over 50 necessary documents, including a living will. My sister-in-law used this book to set everything up for her family.
A final note about all of this financial stuff: As part of a Personal Financial Planning course, I made a binder for Steve and I with numerous financial documents from my goals (10 pages single spaced..i was kind of proud of myself) to credit card details. If you and your spouse wnat to make one, let me know and I can show you on the website how to find the documents to make one.
The professor that taught this class has a website with dozens of powerpoints, merit badge ideas with the lesson, FHE lessons, church readings on the matter, and finacial tools. Basically, he has the entire class on the website and more. He is quite the excel guru. He has spreadsheets for debt elimination, credit card repayment, physician analysis, how much house can I afford?, leases vs. buy analysis, and much more. The link to the webiste is on the side of the blog labeled Financial Planning. The excel spreadsheets are under the tab Tools and Resources and then learning tools. He has so much information on the website. One thing about his website that is different from other finance webistes is he includes an eternal perspective in it as opposed to strictly a worldy view. His main view is "We must be wise stewards with what we have."
Brief Bio: He recieved his PhD from Geroge Washington. Worked as a portfolio manager in California and then retired at 45 and now works for BYU. He goes on amazing vacations, has 0 debt, has college, marriage, and mission funds for all 7 of his children set up.
I promise I will not post any more stuff about finances. I just wanted to share these few things.
(Some of you may be wondering how I have time for these long posts: No TV, not in the mood to study anymore, Husband at the library, and Finished my Book and have not started a new one yet!)

Post the link!
I love Suze Orman! She always has great financial articles in the Costco Connection! Thanks for the tips. Matt and I really need to get going on some of that stuff, especially the will.
the link to all the financial stuff is on the side of our webiste, "Financial Planning" The financial plan is under the tab, Tools and Resources and then learning. The Teaching Tools (TT) with a PFP next to it are the templates to make your own binder. Steve and I did it together and it was really good.
Thanks for the info!
All this talk about wills has gotten me a little depressed. Is that normal?
Marissa - I am not finding what you are talking about - can you post the link or email it to me? I am a dork.
