Gift of a Magi by O. Henry

(post by Marissa) So last night, Steve and I experienced a little "Gift of a Magi" episode of our own.

Quick Gift of a Magi Summary: Wife cuts her hair and sells it to buy her husband a chain for his pocket watch. Husband sells his pocket watch to buy her combs for her hair (similar to berrets today).

Now for our version: I was planning on going to the law school to study with Steve (I would study for the CPA exam). Steve was planning on being home when I got home from work (around 5:45) to go running with me. I always beg Steve to go running with me, but it usually doesn't happen. So, when he said he was coming home to run, I was very excited to say the least. I think that meant more to me than many of the fancy dates we went on. We had a great time (at least I did!). We did some interval training (sprint, jog, etc.) I would love if we ran together everyday, but for now I'll be grateful for the sporatic surprises. He is a really good runner, so I can't figure out why he doesn't love it. I get addicted to it once I start.

Side note: I can't keep a surprise (that's another post in and of itself) so of course I called him on my way to the school to tell him I was coming to study. To avoid 2 ruined surprises, he had to tell me that he was surprising me. So I guess we didn't really have a Gift of the Magi episode, but we nearly did.
