Zoo Day!

Continuing our Spring Break Adventures, we went to Utah's Hogle Zoo.  Steve took the kids to the zoo almost two years ago while I was at Girls Camp.  I however, had not been since Will's 9th birthday, five years ago.  When I went five years ago, it was cold and rainy and Steve's family was done at the zoo after about an hour. I didn't see hardly any animals and was less than impressed so  I was a little hesitant going.  However, this time we had a blast.  We got there around 11:30 and could immediately see it was crowded.  I almost thought to myself, should we just leave.  I finally found a parking spot (in the yellow, but zoo worker said it was okay) and we ventured in.  We did the pass with the train and carousel rides.  The kids also wanted a treat while at the zoo.  I brought lunch so I wanted to do the other extra things to make it fun for the kids.  We started walking from animal to animal.  The kids could see almost every animal that was in each of the stations.  Ava then found a map and she became our guide.  Liam loved the elephants.  Noah couldn't wait to see the rhinos.  I thought Noah would like the lions more than he did.  We saw elephants, bears, sea otters, polar bears, snakes, crocodiles, giraffes, and so much more.  There was a gorilla sleeping right by the fence and the kids watched it for at least 10 minutes.  They couldn't believe how big its hands, feet, and teeth were.  Liam loved the little cats in the building.  Liam is usually more hesitant on rides, but we all rode the carousel and he really liked it.  He didn't want to get off.  I think he's getting used to the ride thing!  We also rode a train that took us through the zoo to see the animals closer.  The kids all loved it.  We ended with ice cream.  Liam got his own cone and wouldn't even let me take off the paper.  The kids all had a great day.  Ava said, "It was a lot more fun than she expected!"
