(post by Marissa) Everyone knows a girl can be particular with her hair. However, what about a guy? Steve has always had these little routines/rituals with his hair. For example, when we were dating we went to the temple and did baptisms. Well, he kept insisting that he didn't want to get baptized, but would perform the baptisms. I was like thats fine, not knowing what the big deal was....well what was the big deal...HIS HAIR!! Yes, he would not have a hat to put on immediately after his hair got wet, so he feared it would get puffy. Then if it is windy, he gets annoyed because it is going to mess up his hair. He is also bedhead patrol. If you have ever had bedhead, Steve has probably noticed. This morning, he was going to get a haircut and I was going to run to the grocery store. Me wanting to get the day going wanted to hurry and get to the store and have him get to his haircut. After the haircut, we were going to the gym. (I already knew going to the gym first then the store and haircut was out of the question because his hair would be sweaty and no way would he do that). So back to the point, what does he do before he goes to get a haircut, TAKES A SHOWER. I said Steve, "we are going to the gym after. Why don't you just go and get your hair cut then take a shower after the gym..it's kind of a waste of time." He replies, "No, I have bedhead..that is embarrasing." And so I said, "Well I'll wet it." "No, you can tell when you do that." "Okay, I'll wash it." "No, I have to take a shower."
So yes he took a shower. Yes, we went to the gym and yes he is back in the shower right now (singing too by the way). So during all of this I said, "You are the only person I know that is so particular about how their hair is when you get a hair cut." To which he replied, "No, there are a million people that are the same as me." So are there? Is this normal? Do all guys take showers before haircuts? Are all guys particular with their hair? Or is this reserved especially for Steve?

Tell Steve to watch out. My Uncle Evan used to be OBSESSED with his hair and now he is completely bald!!! I don't know many other men obsessed with hair, but who knows right? There are all kinds of people in the world. ;)
you would be surprised!!! i know many of my crazy men clients!!! I just let them be... We are totally like that so why can't they be too.. It's better than them walking around looking terrible all the time, and not caring about it!!!
I think it's a MUST to take a shower afterwards because as guys, your hair is short and so you get these little prickly hairs all over your neck. It's annoying! Girls don't understand it. But that's afterwards. Steve, buddy, don't worry about beforehand what it looks like. As for me, I have my hair cut in the buff and then go straight to the shower. But I have that privilege because my wife is a hair dresser ;) .
Okay so I thought after JP's comment I better clarify things. JP is definitley Steve's match for the hair comment. He use to get upset if I bumped into him and messed it up in any way. Now since having children things have totally changed. He still takes allot of showers, but has given up on always having his hair perfect. I decided I better not complain because a clean, well groomed guy was better than the alternative.
A lot of my male clients were more particular about their hair then some of my female clients... and the whole shower thing.. Kiel takes a shower right before he goes to the gym which I don't completely understand. Maybe becuase their hair doesn't take as long as ours does. Why go the gym all clean and then leave sweaty?? The first thing I do after the gym is shower.. Boys are strange but You're not alone!
Ummm, actually, I've always taken showers and washed/blowdried my hair before getting haircuts! I always thought it would be gross and embarrassing to go in with dirty hair. But I guess hairdressers have seen it all so there really shouldn't be anything to worry about.
Now i know why JP and steve are best friends they are so alike.
Doug is very particular about his hair - but also takes the shower after, however, he usually gets his haircut later in the day and is the same way about hats and his hair and such.... I do seem to recall a 13 year old boy who had my sister shave his head and it was very uneven on both sides and he wore it to school and got really made fun of (that would be you steve)- Oh, how they change!
Stef, there's been times when I've been tempted to shave my head again, but then I think back to those days. It scarred me for life...haha.
Ha! Tyler isn't particular in the least--he has finally come around to agree to even do his hair at all. So these quirks can be a good thing because they often mean they take good care of their appearance. Cute nursery by the way!
