(post by Marissa) This was mine and Steve's conversation a few nights ago...this is why I love him! He cracks me up and is possibly the most concerned husband I know. Before I get to the conversation, another quick story. I went to get Steve some pizza the other night and thought I would be home before he was. However, he got home and I wasn't home. He calls me, but I'm in a deep conversation with my mom and I know I'll be home in a few minutes so I don't switch over. He calls again, I ignore it again because I know why he is calling. He calls again, again, again, again, leaves a message etc. I get home. He is semi-panicking and gets kind of annoyed. I say, "I knew why you were calling and I was going to be home in like 2 minutes." I guess I better be home when he is or switch over to prevent another panic attack. The same thing happened last night (I was at the store getting an ingredient I didn't have for dinner), but I switched over this time to tell him I'm alive, I'm talking to my mom and I'll be home in a minute. We were in deep conversation again about my vacuum...
Conversation:
Steve: "What if you go into labor in the middle of the night?"
Me: "It will wake me up. You are in labor for a little bit before you actually go to the hospital. But trust me labor will wake me up."
Steve: "No, when you get a contraction, we're going to the hospital."
Me : "No, you have to wait until they are close enough and stuff. That's what the book says."
Steve: "No, the book says better be safe than sorry. Some people have their baby in the car."
Me: "They will send me home if I'm not really in labor."
Steve: "So, I don't want to have the baby in the car or something."
Me: "Steve, that does not happen really with first time moms. I won't wait forever, but I'm not getting sent home like 4 times. They will know our names!"
Steve: "You're being prideful. I read that when you get contractions you have to go to the hospital or call your doctor and it's better to be safe than sorry."
I'll let you know if we get sent home and look like the idiots..
We went on our hospital tour the other day and Steve asked if they tag the baby in the room or if he needed to do what Dwight suggests and mark the baby!
We have these conversations a lot. If I say the slightest thing, Steve says, "Call the doctor." If I called the doctor as much as he thinks I should, they would probably start blocking my calls! He def gets the most concerned husband award!! But I def appreciate his concern! I just hope nothing out of the ordinary happens during delivery or he might need to be hospitalized. Luckily, I have had a smooth sailing pregnancy so he hasn't had much to worry about. He also thinks he needs to check on the baby-to-be ALL NIGHT to make sure she is breathing and such. He is going to be one protective dad..He hardly likes me drive now, I hope I'm not homebound when I have a baby on board :)
All these things make me think he's all the cuter though!

ha ha! That was a good read. I can totally see you 2 having that conversation, and Steve is going to be a great dad and you'll be a great mom!!! How cute are you guys!!!
That's funny. I only wish it were that quick. Especially with the first labors they are typically longer. It took me all day to dialate enough to have the girls and I was having "contractions" all week. Trust me you'll know when your in labor. :) You guys will be great parents.
Okay, this was too funny, and so cute! It's great to catch up with you guys. We need to have a little Camelot reunion whenever you're in UT next.
I feel you! Coby drove 5 mph home from the hospital - it cracked me up. We sold our scooter so we could BOTH be more safe & he checks on her all night long even at 10 months old. We are lucky to have guys who are involved & excited. :)
By the way - everyone said "trust me you'll know when you're in labor" & I didn't. I went to my dr. appointment in labor & didn't know. For me it wasn't that bad of pain ... everyone is different.
GOOD LUCK - you will be great!
