Baby Items

(post by Marissa) We could not decide on ornaments so the tree is not quite done yet so no Christmas photos yet, but I do have some baby photos. I have changed nearly every item at least once. I think about things probably entirely too much. However, we have decided on a few things. Her furniture is below. She will have the dresser, hutch, and crib. The hutch is cool because the bottom shelf comes out so it can be on the dresser while the dresser is still being used as a changing table. I can store extra diapers in the cubbard so they are not just out in the open and I don't have to bend down to get them because they are at standing height. The crib is really pretty. My mom and I (with Dad in the car) and Steve (as much as he could) went and looked at cribs and all 3 of us (my dad does not have a huge opinion) liked this one the best! The drawers are a good size the and hutch is very functional! So needless to say I am not doing black and white anymore. I am 85% sure we are going to do a pink, cream, and champagne for her bedding. There is a beautiful one that has such soft fabrics, but we are going to wait and see if we see anything else in NJ. So the furniture is now taken care of and the bedding is nearly taken care of!

Next stroller....well let me just say this has def. been the hardest purchase ever. I have decided that with the stroller you have to decide what is important to you. For me, size and weight were a big deal. I did not want ot push around a bus. I know I'll be traveling to NJ and stuff and so I wanted one that would fold up small and could get in and out quickly. So for me the Peg was the best. Also, the infant carrier is really safe with side impact (which Steve cared about a lot). He didn't like the ones where the baby's head didn't look supported and stuff. I know the two drawbacks: cupholder and you have to get to the bag from the side. However, the cupholder is not a big deal at all for me because the only thing I ever have is a bottle of water. I don't think the bag thing will be an issue because I don't usually have tons of stuff. I loved the simplicity, color, and compactness of the stroller. Also, I am going to try and avoid having to get a double stroller and so the little stand feature on the back is a plus to me so that if I have a little toddler that maybe gets tired, the toddler can stand on the back. Also, if I do have to get a double, Peg makes a good double so..

For Steve's sanity...if you have this stroller or know someone who does who does not like it..don't tell me! Steve is probably so done with the stroller conversation. I looked into MacLaren, but they only have umbrella strollers without a cupholder and tray for the kiddo. Graco and Fisherprice were just too big for me. I thought the Chicco was nice, but a little bigger than I wanted. The Zippy seems to be very similar to the Peg so I probably would have been happy with that too. I also considered getting a jogging stroller as my everyday, but it is a little bulky and people may look at me funny. Anyways, I am done with the stroller dilemma and research. I think in time, energy, and thought I have about 10,000 grand in this stroller! So if you have the Peg and love it, bring on the good stuff!!

I do like the Orbit still, but as to why I did not get the Orbit: 1) It seems to be used mostly as an infant system so I would have to then purchase a toddler stroller. The overall cost I just could not justify. 2) If I ever do have to get a double stroller I can't even use the Orbit infant seat because Orbit does not have a double stroller and the carrier is not compatible with any other brand. So those are the only two reasons really. Mainly that I could not use it long enough to justify the cost.

pretty furniture - it is nicer than my own bedroom!

you will love the peg - we do. Plus it is much lighter than the rest we tried.

Wow! You did a lot of research on everything... way to go! You are the person to come to with any questions; since you have done so much research. Love the furniture and have heard great things about the brand of stroller that you got.

Love the furniture. That was actually my 1st choice, but for some reason we decided against it. I have no idea why, now that I see it again.

I LOVE my peg. Light, easy. When I was traveling with Rowan by myself, I could hold in her in one arm and collapse it with the other. Great choice.

All the items look beautiful! Good choices. And good stroller choice. And don't worry about the cup holder--I never use mine and am pretty sure Cameron would just pull it off if I attached it where it goes. One thing that is nice (that I dont' have) is a one-handed close feature. And having a light stroller IS very nice. I got a light one too. I didn't want to pushing around a huge awkward boat either.
I left a comment down on your invention post about some good ways to prevent blowout probs if you want to read it.

if you plan to breastfeed...well, breastfeeding makes you really thirsty. You'll want some place to stash your bottled water!
