Help with Vacation!

(post by Marissa) My mom put me semi in charge of planning the Bird Family Vacation for 2009. I need some help coming up with ideas/resorts. There are 20 adults and 10 children. The children will range from 2 months to 13 years old. We will be going the end of June beginning of July. My mom and I discussed 1) Dude Ranch 2) Island All-Inclusive Vacation 3) Southern CA (Disneyland, Sea World, etc.). However, we do not know specifics for these places. If you have been to any resorts, Dude Ranches or any other place you loved as a family vacation...please share! We don't want ot have to cook and stuff and so that's why the Dude Ranch and Island All-Inclusive are so appealing :). Share any ideas you have....thanks..

You know what I have always thought was a good idea for diverse/large families with children? A Disney Cruise! I watched an hour special on it on the Travel Channel once and it looked like so much fun! The kids have programs they can go to so that gives adults some time off. They also have different Disney stage shows every night. And then they stop at this island that Disney OWNS one day and you can lay on the beach, etc. And of course you never have to cook for yourself on a cruise. So if it's in the budget, why not do it!

As fun as Disneyland is - it is horrible for a huge group! We tried that one year with all kids & siblings ... it was a mess 90% of the time trying to find everyone.

I am all about cruises ... lots of cruises cater to kids other than the expensive Disney cruises. You could get a group rate too.

Any vacation when you don't have to plan out activities, food or clean up is the BEST!

Doesn't your dad laugh at people who actually pay to go to Dude Ranches since he grew up in a similar environment? I can't believe baby will be 2 months old by then....

We had a really fun family reunion in Sedona, AZ last summer. The oldest kid was 10, and each family got their own (air-conditioned) cabin & just hung out all day riding bikes and playing in the creek. Then each night a different family was in charge of dinner. The kids could camp in a tent if they wanted, and all the adults stayed up talking and playing games. There are also a bunch of good hikes & falls around that area. B was only four months or so, and he did great!
