(Post by Marissa) I know, it's March and I am just now making a goal. Well, it's in addition to my other goals I made in January. My goal for 2008 is to learn to like eating fish. Anyone that knows me knows I am a little bit picky about food. I am definitely not a fan of anything that lives in the water. For protein I really just ate chicken or a protein shake. However, recently well for longer than I maybe want to admit, I have not really been a huge fan of chicken, which leaves me with only a few sources of protein. I can only eat chicken if it's on the grill or in the crockpot and even then sometimes I can't. Needless to say, I know how healthy fish is and my dad has been trying to convince me of this for years along with my husband. So with all that being said, it is my goal to try and learn to like fish. Any suggestions from you fish lovers who maybe were not always fish lovers or for those that only like fish at certain places? I know why did I not try to learn to like fish when I lived in the Mecca of seafood as opposed to now where the closest ocean is well..I'm not sure! However, like most new year's resolutions, it may not happen, but I am a little committed to this one. Worst case scenario I am hoping that maybe when I am pregnant I'll crave fish or something and I will be cured!

I was never a fan of fish until I worked at a Mexican Seafood restaurant, now I love it (if there's a lot of spice!). When I cook fish, I use a lot of garlic and pepper and other spices, and then it is wonderful! Start with the less "fishy" fishes.
hey! i'm not a huge fish eater...i know that the fresher the fish, the less 'fishy' it is. but i've recently learned that there is a lot more protein in veggies and beans than most people think..i've sort of turned 'vegan' and think i'm getting plenty of protein ;o) just fyi!! good luck with the fish...season it a lot too, it helps!
Costco sells really yummy salmon. It is individually wrapped and seasoned. I can't remember the brand b/c they don't sell it in our UT Costco, but its in a black box in the freezer isle and its called Wild Alaskan Salmon. Also, maybe try Halibut. Those are the healthiest. Definitely stay away from Catfish!!! My dad was never a big fan of salmon but I got him converted w/ that seasoned wild Alaskan. We grew up on fresh trout so thats probably why I like fish, otherwise I may not like it either. I actually don't eat a whole lot of meat anymore. I don't even buy beef. I stick to turkey, chicken and fish.
Tilapia is a very mild white fish and it's extremely versatile. Bake it in the oven and melt some cheese (my fav is pepper jack) on top the last few minutes and serve with wild rice. Salmon is really good crumbled in salads- it would probably taste great with that dressing you make and then you wouldn't feel like you're eating a whole piece of fish.
that is soo great, good goal.... hate fish too...
but I do eat Albacore Tuna, which taste not so fishy, more like chicken, you should try it with a bit of mircle whip, nothing (it is a bit dry) or whatever you prefer... good luck!!
I would suggest Halibut..
But, I think Salmon is yummy "psychologically", b/c I know how healthy it is.
