Another School Shooting...What's the Solution?

About a half an hour ago, a man walked onto the campus of Northern Illinois University and shot 12-18 people; it is still unknown how many died. Is it me, or are school shootings becoming a monthly headline? Sometimes when I'm sitting in class, I find myself day dreaming about how I would react to a gunman opening up the classroom door and opening fire on me and my classmates. I am usually the hero. As often as they happen in real life, my planning might come in handy.

Laura Ingram, a talk show host and fellow attorney (haha), feels that students should be able to carry guns onto campus to protect themselves from these random killers. I don't know how I feel about that stance. I knew/know a few people in school that scare me when they aren't carrying a weapon. (To my fellow Texas Tech readers, I am not speaking of you, so don't be offended). Her viewpoint does carry some substance, though, and I could definitely see the value of having a 9mm when that suicidal freak walks into my classroom.

At least they always kill themselves so we, as taxpayers, don't have to pay for their court fees and jail time (sorry, that may be harsh, but it's true). If you feel they can be rehabilitated, you are a great person and probably deserve a spot in heaven. However, I consider myself a realist and think they don't have a chance in h@*%.

I know, depressing right? I'm getting worried about where I'm going to send my kids to school! Is there going to be anywhere that going to school won't be like going through airport security by then??
