Tribute to My Lil Sis!

(post my Marissa) Rise and Shout, the Cougars are out! Okay, so no I don't really know the whole BYU song, but maybe my lil sis will learn it when she starts this fall..... Congratulations ALISHA! She just found out she was accepted to BYU Provo for next fall. She is very excited and relieved. Now, she just has to finish up her senior year, which can be difficult with an acceptance letter. Of course, I coached her through the app and housing process, so I feel a surge of accomplishment as well. I was reminiscing about all the little freshman things with her on the phone today! I am even more excited because she said she is considering getting her Master's in Accounting (Tax). I said we could do taxes together and have a little practice. Okay, so I am probably trying to plan her life so I will stop. I was, however, extremely excited for her that she was accepted! BYU is a great place and I have so many memories there. As a sidenote, the average ACT score for Fall Semester is a 28 now. It was a 26 when I started 5 years ago. I hope my kids will be able to go there.

If anyone has any freshman advice for her, you can leave a comment.

Advice from the Wise BYU Grad:
BYU has a lot to offer and so get involved. Ski on the weekends and hike Mt. Timp. (I regret that I never did :( (Now don't go and get B's or anything..you need a 3.75 to get into Accounting.) Balance play and study. I didn't do this very well. I studied too much my freshman year and the ironic thing is I did better once I started doing other things (Steve got me out of the library.)
Attend all Ward Activities. It is important to be active not only on Sunday meetings, but other events as well. Even if you don't need the friends, someone else may.
Negotiate with mom and dad and say if I get a scholarship, "Can I have the Money." It is a real motivator!
Have Fun and Be Good! (mom quote)

Amazing accomplishment. Congrats! I remember when she and Janelle were 7 and 9 (I think) and I was putting them to bed. Time flies.
